Their purpose is to provide immediate information about the condition of the road network, to set speed limits, and to quickly inform drivers about emergency incidents, diversions, weather conditions, etc.

This is achieved through the display of text and selected graphics, so that the driver is promptly informed without being distracted.
They are available in mobile versions (trailers) or fixed-base installations, while some models also feature a photovoltaic system for increased autonomy and energy savings.
